Intelec – Giro (2007)

  • Deep techno
  • Electronic music
  • Experimental techno
  • Glitchtronica
  • IDM
  • Ambient techno

Comment: this bunch of 6 tracks is all about profound reveries on hypnotic rhythms which in turn are surrounded by torn sonic effects, delicate glitches and concealed voice manipulations. Despite its strong impact on the rhythmic backbone (indeed, the kick drum predominantly kicks and rumbles around) the Spanish duo does not forget to craftily impose upon emotive synapses with the aid of halcyon synthesizers and lighthearted melodies. This sort of synthesized expressions are characteristic to deep house notches although the recent case is experimental techno by numbers (i.e unpredictable ones). The masterful issue is a bit within the discography of Miga. The very respect of mine.

Chin Yi – Sanguinem Mitto (2013)

  • Post-punk
  • Avant-punk
  • No Wave
  • Dance punk
  • Art punk
  • Electroclash
  • Electro-punk
  • Electronic
  • Alternative dance

Comment: this bunch of 6 tracks released by a Granda, Spain-based combo (Pablo Medina (guitar and voice), Vicente Jiménez (bass and guitar), Carlos Gimeno (drums) and Marta Corchs (synths) on Miga Label, and La Gramola Netlabel is a smooth drift between the raucous, insinuating spirit of Mark E Smith (especially at tracks like A Vissen, and Unus through the singing manner, voice timbre and more experimental, dissonant compositional approach), and a synth-punk and electroclash (indeed, the past being externalised through such combos as Searchers, Tuxedomoon, Devo and The Screamers which foresaw its future, and now both temporal categories on their respective sonorous appearances are organically crystallised at one and the same place). Paradoxically, it is great that MES`s spirit and legacy continues living through a thousands of ensembles though the Mancunian legend would certainly hate the cases of similarity based on The Fall. On the other side, all the aforementioned back then in the 70s went on uncompromisingly experimental and artsy rather than poppy and hedonistic. All that power and intriguing arrangements can be heard from within this whole. Very pro.

SkeAmo – erA (2011)

  • Indietronica
  • Electronic music
  • Experimental electronica
  • Glitchtronica
  • IDM
  • Post-rock

Comment: this handful of tracks is a dexterous release by Jorge Sierra also being known as the lead figure of Eclectik Recording, and a visual artist. Musically it is a diverse whole within certain borders only – more profoundly, one can drift between lone yet suggestive piano chords, high-pitched yet gentle drones, velvety electronic churning, modulated odds and ends. Jorge Sierra is supported by female vocals by such artists as Chenene, Yoka, Worenagia. At Chrysalis the apotheosis of the track comes due to a sublime post-rock climax. It is the most beautiful moment on the release. The outing is a bit in the discography of Miga Records. Follow the universe.

Burdeos – S A U D A D E (2014)

  • Techno pop
  • Electronic pop
  • Ambient pop
  • Synth-pop
  • Post-disco

Comment: Burdeos is an artist from Seville, Spain whose 8-track issue is an exuberant electronic progression through lofty synthesiser developments and a churning rhythmic programming. It used to be a gentle mix between the fluctuating melodic and the bouncy formative side. Some hisses and glitches, sawtooth-shaped shards and rusty synths and robotic voices are set up to add an additional value to the emotionally suggestive threads. As the artist says 'Saudade' is a word difficult to define, which expresses a sense of melancholy, yearning or longing. A beautiful memory for what has been lived and painful because will not come back. All in all, it is for you to decide whether you could feel bittersweet memories or striking rebounds while listening to it or not. The subtle outing is a bit in the discography of Miga.

Alex Cortex – Invierano (2007)

  • Tech-house
  • Club dance
  • Minimal techno
  • Deep techno
  • Tech-electro

Comment: Alexander Neumann is an artist from Germany who has been very prolific over the last three decades. I read at Discogs that he has been doing his music with old-school equipment by employing an Amiga computer system with tracker programs and in this way got established his own idiosyncratic timbre and sound. For sure, by listening to this 3-track outing (being released on Miga) you can perceive his charmingly dusty yet exuberant timbre. The result is invigorating and profound in terms of iterative, hypnotic rhythmic patterns, lofty and spaced-out synthesisers atop. Frequently one can hear different progressions running at the same time yet all of that results in coherent, enchanting tracks. All of that seems to be deeply analysed and much work to have been done you can guess an obsessive professor to be behind it by scraping scarce vibes from the beaker within his alchemic ward. That's not funny, it is a serious, mandatory stuff. You can find out many similarities with the Detroit techno and electro scene but not only in terms of sound and rhythms but also in that sense that this sort of sound is definitely directed toward the future. Although Invierano was issued 11 years ago but by listening to it at the moment I have to admit it hums like a space rocket within my ears.

Javier Rubio - Cine Roma (2014)

/Industrial techno, Crossover, Illbient, EBM; Kosmische Musik, Experimental techno, Dark electro, Leftfield/

Comment: Javier Rubio`s issue reflects upon quite different styles and artistic aspirations throughout. Is it obvious to pile up the elements of electronic body music, concrete music, Kosmische Musik, and even some house vibes on the same release, for instance? However, the result is worth enough to get into it – this 7-track issue is a platform for Rubio to hint at vast abandoned wastelands, apparitional landscapes and nervous impulses inside the human being`s body. All in all, the artist does not give a damn about your interest to get involved in music.

Erissoma – Textures (2011)

  • Experimentalism
  • Avant-garde
  • Microtonal
  • Post-rock
  • Microsound
  • Experimental electronica
  • Glitchtronica
  • Modern classical

Comment: this handful of tracks is a mesmerized presentation of picturesque piano and guitar-based chords which are wrapped up by signal-alike electronic progressions, choppy droning hums and hazy vowel samples which constantly whir and whirl. The whole results in creating of thick, sublime layers, however, stylistically veering at the crossroads of post-rock, modern classical, and experimental/glitch electronica. It is a thorough experimental pursuit, though, not to be separated from emotions. Spain-based magician Erissoma proves that actually it is needed few elements to create something overwhelming – the essential point of the issue is about how to evoke subtle changes in texture. The outcome will eat your mind.
